How does sales tax work if I’m selling on Amazon?

While Printify doesn’t have a direct integration with the Amazon marketplace as a sales channel, it is possible to sell Printify products on Amazon by using Shopify as a middleman.

Various solutions are available on the Shopify app store that enable the integration of Amazon orders into a Shopify store. The most popular Shopify apps used for selling on Amazon are:

As Amazon is registered as a marketplace facilitator in the majority of states and is required to collect and remit sales taxes on behalf of their sellers, sales tax will be charged when a customer makes a purchase on Amazon.

To prevent a double charge, orders imported into Printify from Amazon, using one of the aforementioned or similar Shopify apps, will be automatically exempt from sales tax charges.

Note

The following order types do not qualify for sales tax exemption: orders imported from Amazon via API, CSV import, Order Desk, as well as manual orders.
