Product personalization on Printify lets you sell customized products, such as items with names, custom text, or images. Depending on how personalization is set up, buyers may share customization details manually or enter them directly during checkout. How does personalization work on Printify?
Printify supports two personalization approaches, each with different behavior for buyers and sellers:
Manual personalization
- Buyers don’t enter customization details at checkout
- Personalization details are shared manually (for example, via messages or order notes)
- Personalization can be enabled or disabled at any time
- All personalized orders require manual approval
Automated personalization
- Buyers enter text and/or images during checkout
- Personalization fields are created based on your product design
- Personalization becomes mandatory for the product
- All personalized orders require manual approval
- Availability depends on the connected sales channel
Which products support personalization?
All products in the Printify Catalog support personalization. Some personalization features may vary depending on the product type and sales channel.
How are personalized orders handled?
Personalized orders are handled based on the submission rules you set in your store settings. This allows you to control how much manual review is required before an order goes to production.

Manual submission
Personalized orders stay on hold until you review the customization details and manually submit the order to production. -
Automatic submission
Personalized orders can be submitted automatically after they’re approved by you and/or the buyer. You can choose one of the following options:- Submit automatically after 1 hour
- Submit automatically after 24 hours
- Submit automatically at a specific time each day

Buyer-approved personalization
If enabled, orders where buyers approve their personalization via Live Preview don’t require your manual review and will be submitted according to your automatic submission rules. -
Imported orders
Imported personalized orders can skip the review step and be automatically marked as approved by you.
Each personalized order still creates a separate, editable version of the product, while your original product design remains unchanged. This ensures you can review or adjust personalization details when needed, or streamline fulfillment when automation is enabled.
