Why can’t I publish my products to Etsy?
If you are having trouble publishing your products on Etsy, the following is a list of common reasons that may be causing the issue.
You haven’t created at least one product directly on Etsy
During the Etsy onboarding process, you need to create at least one product directly on Etsy. You can delete this product later, but only after publishing a product from Printify to Etsy. If you delete, deactivate, or hide it too soon, you’ll encounter a publishing error. To fix this, simply create another product on Etsy, then publish a product from Printify. Afterwards, you can delete the Etsy product if you don’t need it.
Your Etsy store hasn’t been activated
If you’re having issues with publishing your products to Etsy, it is very likely that your Etsy store hasn’t been activated. Ensure you’ve completed all the Etsy onboarding steps and activated your Etsy shop by clicking Open your shop at the end of the Etsy onboarding process.
To check whether your Etsy store has been activated, input your Etsy store URL in a web browser (making sure you’re not logged in to your Etsy account). If it can be accessed, it means the store is active.
You need to renew your Etsy connection token
Your Etsy connection token will expire if you’ve changed your Etsy account password. To re-establish your store connection to Printify, click Renew token, and you’ll be directed to log in to your Etsy account. Any previously published products won’t be affected in any way.
You’ve selected a shipping profile that uses calculated prices
Currently, our Etsy integration only supports shipping profiles with fixed prices. Shipping profiles with calculated prices are not supported. To proceed with publishing your products, please select an existing shipping profile with fixed prices or create a new one.
Your Etsy listing has been deactivated
Publishing will fail if a previously published Etsy product listing has been deactivated by Etsy. This can occur due to a variety of reasons. Typically, it is due to a violation of Etsy policies, such as copyright infringement, inappropriate content, misleading listing, etc. Etsy will send you an email explaining why your listing was removed.
Your Etsy store isn’t live
Make sure that your Etsy store is live. Publishing will fail if the store is in Vacation Mode or inaccessible due to other reasons.
To check whether your Etsy store is live, input your Etsy store URL in a web browser, making sure you’re not logged in to your Etsy account. If it cannot be accessed and you have not selected Vacation Mode on Etsy, please reach out to Etsy support.
Your Etsy product title contains prohibited characters
Ensure your product title doesn’t include characters like quotation marks or blank spaces at the end. You can check for extra spaces by selecting the entire title to reveal any invisible symbols.
Your product is priced lower than the USD 0.20 publishing fee
Publishing won’t work if a product variant’s price is less than USD 0.20. This can happen if the store’s currency isn’t set to USD and the currency has a low conversion rate compared to USD.
To avoid this error, you should do one of the following:
- Change the currency on Etsy to USD. You need to update it on both your account and store.
- Ensure that prices on Printify are set high enough so that, when switched to your currency, the lowest variant’s retail price is greater than USD 0.20.
Your product exceeds Etsy’s variation limits
Etsy allows up to two product options per listing, such as size and color, with a maximum of 70 choices per option.
The total number of product variants (combinations of all options) cannot exceed 400. If your product exceeds these limits, it won’t publish to Etsy.
For example, a product with 10 sizes and 50 colors results in 500 variants, which exceeds Etsy’s limit.
To fix this, reduce the number of options in your Printify listing or create separate listings to stay within Etsy’s limits.
Your product couldn’t be published due to an unspecified reason
