Can I sell personalized products using Printify?
While Printify doesn't offer built-in functionality for automatic product personalization by the customer, you have the option to use various apps like HelloCustom and Customily to achieve this. These apps enable you to offer end-customer personalization seamlessly. Alternatively, you can still personalize products manually by editing each order before submitting it for production.

Automatic personalization apps
HelloCustom (for Etsy)
If you have an Etsy shop, you can integrate it with the HelloCustom app, which is a paid app offering an automatic customization process for products based on your customer's input. Plans start at USD 29.99 per month + USD 0.29 per sale and include a 14-day free trial.
HelloCustom recognizes elements such as names, dates, addresses, etc., which are also the components of the design that your customers will be able to customize. You may only be able to offer partial customization of the product if the design contains an image.
For example, in the design below, the customer will be able to customize only the name; the image will stay the same.

Customily (for Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy, BigCommerce)
The Customily app, available in the Shopify App Store for Shopify users, lets you create personalized products that your customers can customize directly in your store.
With Customily, you can offer live previews of personalized products, showing customers exactly how their choices will look on the final product. Once a purchase is made, Customily automatically creates a print file with the customer’s choices and sends it to fulfillment.
Customily offers pay-as-you-go pricing with no long-term commitments. The transaction fees are USD 1 per transaction for the first 100 orders, and USD 0.50 per transaction for up to 1,000 orders.

Manual product personalization
Step 1: Set your order approval settings to “Manual”
By setting your order approval settings to “Manual”, you’ll be able to edit the order in Printify before sending it to production. Note that order approval settings are set for each store separately.
Step 2: Create a placeholder product and publish it
Create a product in Printify, indicating that you offer a personalized design, and proceed to publish it to your store.
Step 3: Come up with a way of obtaining the customer’s design
For example, the customer could send it via message (if selling on a marketplace like Etsy) or email it to you.
Shopify users: You may want to check out apps that have been specifically created for this purpose, such as the Personalized Image Uploader app for Shopify (USD 9.99/month, with a 7-day free trial). It allows the customer to upload their own design before submitting the order. Keep in mind that you’ll still need to manually edit the order in Printify to add the design.
Step 4: Recreate the product using the customer’s design
Once the customer has submitted an order in your store, and you have received their design, go to our Catalog and recreate the ordered product using the customer’s design. Make sure to leave the product unpublished (click Save as draft).
Step 5: Edit the submitted order and replace the product
Navigate back to the order and click Edit order. Remove the placeholder product from the order and add the recreated product (the one that uses the customer’s design).
Step 6: Send the order to production
As the final step, send the order to production by clicking Submit.
