This article assumes that you have already been granted access to Printify API. If that is not the case, then you can find information on how to request access in our API documentation.
You've been granted access. What's next?
⚠️ If you've been granted access but still don't see the "Printify API" section, log out of your Printify account and then log back in.
Next, navigate to the "Printify API" section where you will be greeted by this screen:
STEP 1: ADD A DEVELOPER CONTACT EMAIL
In addition to being able to generate tokens, you will also see a field for providing a developer contact email. We highly recommend that you provide something different from your regular Printify email address so that pertinent communications aren't lost and buried in your inbox.
Even better — if you have a dedicated person responsible for the application that uses Printify API, you can provide their contact email.
STEP 2: START GENERATING A TOKEN
Click the "Generate" button. The first part of generating a token is to name it and select which access scopes will be assigned to that token.
A token name is required, so we suggest naming it in a way that is easy to remember and that explains which access scopes were selected for that token (no worries - you can view the list of scopes later when the token has been generated).
By default, the "All scopes (full access)" option will be selected, but you can change it to the "Custom scopes" option and select only specific scopes.
You can learn more about access scopes in our article What are access scopes and which ones do I need?
STEP 3: COPY AND SAVE YOUR GENERATED TOKEN
After naming your token and selecting the access scopes for it, proceed with generating the token by clicking on the "Generate token" button.
⚠️ Please note that for security purposes, this token will only be visible immediately after generating only. Please make sure you store it in a secure location.
