How do I set up shipping with Shopify?
Shopify sellers can choose from several shipping setup options, and we’ve listed some recommended ones below.
In this article:
- Publish the Printify shipping rates to Shopify
- Set up the Printify Shipping Calculator for Shopify
- Set custom shipping rates (e.g., free shipping)
- Configure Estimated Delivery Time
Publish the Printify shipping rates to Shopify
The easiest option for Shopify sellers is to publish the Printify flat rates directly to Shopify using our shipping profiles. This ensures that the shipping rates charged to your customers align with the rates you pay for fulfillment, eliminating the need for any additional setup steps.
This will be the default option if you choose "Automatically assign and update profile if needed" when publishing or re-publishing products.

Set up the Printify Shipping Calculator for Shopify
The Printify Shipping Calculator for Shopify offers a seamless shipping solution, automatically applying the accurate shipping rate to your customer’s shopping cart. With this option you can also display Economy, Priority and Express rates to your customers if the Print Provider offers them.
Learn how to set it up here: How can I set up the Printify Shipping Calculator for Shopify?
To enable Shipping Calculator, you must have one of the following:
- An Advanced Shopify plan
- A Shopify Plus plan
- A Shopify Growth plan, on the condition that:
- you're on the annual billing plan, not monthly
- you've requested carrier-calculated rates to be enabled for an additional monthly fee
Set custom shipping rates (e.g., free shipping)
You can also create custom shipping rates for some or all of your products. This option is useful if you:
- Want to offer free shipping
- Sell bundled products
- Want more control over your shipping strategy
For detailed instructions on creating Shopify shipping profiles and custom rates, refer to Shopify’s guide: Setting up and managing shipping profiles
- Create or edit a shipping profile in Shopify.
- If you want to offer free shipping, set the shipping rate as $0.00
- In Printify, go to My Products and open the product.
- In the Shipping section, click Edit and select the Shopify shipping profile you want to assign.
- In Publishing settings, ensure the Shipping profile checkbox is enabled.
- Click Publish to sync the changes with Shopify.
If you would like this shipping profile to be your default profile in Printify moving forward, please adjust your store’s shipping settings under Publishing Preferences.
Configure Estimated Delivery Time
In Shopify, the shipping time displayed to customers depends on the preferences set up in Shopify admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery → Delivery expectations → Estimated delivery dates.
Shopify offers three settings for displaying estimated shipping/delivery times during checkout:
-
"Off" (Recommended):
- Customers see the shipping time based on the rate description in the shipping profile (e.g., "Standard Shipping (5-7 business days)").
- This is recommended for merchants using Printify's shipping profiles or the Shipping Calculator, as this relies on the static text descriptions provided by Printify. The days provided by Printify are for delivery, combining fulfillment and shipping.
-
"Automated":
- Displays a specific delivery date range based on fulfillment history.
- This can be useful for merchants with a large volume of orders with sufficient historical data for Shopify to make accurate predictions.
-
"Manual" (Not Recommended):
- This setting combines a custom fulfillment time (set by you) with the transit time from the shipping profile to calculate a delivery date.
- This isn't recommended when using Printify's shipping profiles or the Shipping Calculator, shipping times are provided as text descriptions, not number values that Shopify can use for this calculation. This can lead to inaccurate delivery estimates.
