How do I set up shipping with Etsy?
As our Etsy integration uses shipping profiles, you won’t need to manually set up shipping for your products. The correct shipping rates will automatically be assigned to the product upon publishing if you’re selling in United States Dollars (USD). Alternatively, you can set up free shipping.
Publish the Printify shipping rates to Etsy
All you need to do is select the shipping methods you wish to make available for your product and publish it to your Etsy store.
Since the rates for each product and Print Provider can vary, ensure that you select the “Automatically assign” option each time you publish a new product:
Set up free shipping
Free shipping (with costs included in the retail price) attracts customers and is ideal for products with shipping costs over USD 6.00. Etsy’s algorithm favors items with lower domestic shipping costs, so products with shipping fees above USD 6.00 may rank lower in search results. For products with higher shipping costs, we highly recommend this approach.
You can easily set up free shipping for your Etsy products by using the “Free shipping” toggle in Printify:
When you enable free shipping, the cost of the cheapest shipping option will be subtracted from your current profit margin. For example, if you enable both Economy and Standard Shipping, the cost of Economy Shipping will be subtracted from your profit margin, as it represents the lowest shipping cost.
The Buyer shipping cost column shows the amount the buyer pays for shipping, the My shipping cost column shows what Printify will charge you for the order. When free shipping is enabled, only domestic shipping on Etsy will be marked as free. The shipping rates to other destinations will have the domestic shipping cost subtracted from them, resulting in the shipping cost shown in Etsy’s shipping profiles.
Due to a limitation on Etsy, there may be rare cases where the cost of international shipping could slightly exceed the rates indicated on the Shipping Rates page.
Setting up rates manually
If you want to have more control over the shipping fees your buyers pay, or restrict which countries buyers can place orders from, you'll need to set up the rates manually in Etsy.
You can edit our profiles and we won't proactively revert those changes, but these changes may be reverted if there's changes on our side that affect the profiles. We'll update the rates of our profiles if:
- We change the shipping cost, time or name of the profiles, AND
- You publish a new product with the "Automatically assign and update profile if needed" toggle, AND
- The new product is assigned to an existing profile in your Etsy store, this profile gets updated.
If you plan to use the "Automatically assign and update profile if needed" option during publishing, you'll need to create custom profiles for manual adjustments. Here’s how:
- Navigate to your Etsy Shop Manager.
- Click on Settings and then Delivery settings.
- Under Delivery profiles, click Create profile.
- Fill out the shipping profile details:
- Profile name: Whatever is best for you, but it's useful to include the product type and Print Provider
- Ships from country: United States, or another if using non-U.S. Print Providers
- Origin ZIP code: Check the ZIP code of the Print Provider from a Printify-generated shipping profile
- Add the countries you'd like to ship to and set up rates for, remove Everywhere else if you'd like to exclude countries
-
Delivery service: Select "Other" and enter Delivery time using Printify's shipping rates as reference
- If you don't have "Other" available, select another service with delivery time as close as possible to Printify's
- What you'll charge: Select Free delivery, or select Fixed price and enter rates using ours as reference
- Save your changes.
