Why can’t I publish my products to Amazon US?
Selling on Amazon can be complex, and at times, confusing for merchants. If you are facing challenges with publishing your products to your Amazon US store, we have compiled a list of potential reasons to help guide you toward success on Amazon.
You’re attempting to publish a product fulfilled by a non-US Print Provider
Currently, only products fulfilled by our US-based Print Providers can be published on Amazon US. Any attempt to publish products from non-US providers will fail. To ensure a smooth publishing process, we recommend setting the “Ship from” region (target market) to the US in the Catalog when creating products for your Amazon US store.
It’s important to note that if you have copied products from stores set for fulfillment outside the US, they may still appear on your My Products page, but you will not be able to publish them on Amazon.
You don’t have a valid GTIN/UPC exemption for this product category
The product you are trying to publish may be missing a standard product identifier, such as a UPC, EAN, or ISBN. To resolve this issue, you will need to apply for a GTIN/UPC exemption. For detailed instructions on how to apply, please refer to this article.
You can view your GTIN/UPC exemption applications by navigating to Catalog → View Selling Applications in your Amazon account.
You might already have a similar listing published to Amazon
You may be trying to publish a product that is already in your Amazon inventory, but there is a discrepancy between the data in the existing listing and the new product information you provided. Please review the current listing and ensure that the new listing contains distinct and accurate details before attempting to publish again.
There’s a trademark misuse detected in your product listing
You may be attempting to publish a product using a trademarked term or brand name (e.g., Adidas, Champion) without proper authorization or in violation of Amazon’s policies. To resolve this, carefully review your listing and product description to ensure that no trademarked terms are being misused. Make sure you have the necessary rights or permissions, such as brand approval, to use any trademarks in your listings.
Your product name and mockup mismatch in your listing
The product name and image in the listing you are attempting to publish do not match, which can cause confusion when the system tries to identify the product. To resolve this, update both the title and main image (mockup) to ensure they accurately represent the product. Consistency between the product name and mockup will help prevent further publishing issues.
There’s an issue with your product title
Amazon has strict guidelines for product titles. Common errors that may prevent your product from being published include:
- A product with the same title already exists in your Amazon US store.
- Your product title is too long—make sure it does not exceed 125 characters.
- You are using prohibited words or phrases in the title.
- A brand name was detected in your title, but you do not have the necessary brand approval. Before using any brand names in your listings, we recommend applying for brand approval on Amazon. For more information about the brand approval process, please visit this article.
Be sure to adjust your titles according to Amazon’s guidelines before attempting to publish your product.
There’s an issue with your product mockups
Amazon has strict guidelines for how product mockups should appear. Common issues that may cause a publishing error include:
- The main image for one of your variants has a non-white background. Ensure all main images have a white background before publishing.
- The main image contains a logo, text, or graphic that is not allowed for this product type.
- The image is partially cropped or has missing elements.
- The image includes a human model for a non-clothing product.
Please adjust the mockups accordingly and try republishing the product.
You haven’t selected a shipping profile for your listing
You may be trying to publish a product without selecting a shipping profile. This often occurs when using the bulk publishing tool or when publishing directly from the My Products page by selecting the Publish option from the three-dot menu without visiting the product page to set a shipping profile.
To resolve this, click the paintbrush icon next to the affected product to edit it. Select the appropriate shipping profile from those previously created in your Amazon account, save your changes, and try republishing.
You have reached your weekly new ASIN creation limit on Amazon
Your listing may be failing to publish because you have reached your weekly limit for new ASIN creation on Amazon. Please try publishing again after 00:00 GMT on Sunday, when Amazon resets this limit.
