What happens when my embroidery design needs adjustments?
When you submit your order for embroidery, your design first goes through digitization — the process of converting artwork into a stitch file that embroidery machines can use. This step is required before production and is free of charge.
Sometimes, a design may need small adjustments during digitization to meet embroidery requirements (due to thin lines or tiny text). When this happens, you’ll receive a design adjustment directly in the Printify app to review and approve before production continues.
How it works
You’ll be notified automatically by email and in-app notification whenever a design adjustment requires your attention. It will appear under the affected order in your Orders page, allowing you to review and decide on the design changes yourself — without contacting Support.
How to review your design adjustment
- Go to Orders → On Hold → Review Needed.
- Open the affected order — you’ll see the line item marked as “Digitized with Changes.”
- Review the original vs. adjusted embroidery artwork side by side. Each adjustment includes short notes explaining why changes were made (for example, text too small, lines too thin).
Once you’ve reviewed the design, choose one of the following:
- Approve and submit the order – the order proceeds to production.
- No action within 7 days – the design adjustment expires, and the design is automatically rejected. You will receive reminders during the 7-day window.
What happens if I don’t respond
If no action is taken within 7 days, the design adjustment expires—it is automatically rejected, and the digitization is considered failed. This means the order cannot be sent to production unless it’s edited, but it can still be canceled.
FAQ
Can I manually trigger a design adjustment?
No. Design adjustments are created automatically when digitizers make updates to your embroidery design.
Can I manually cancel the order when reviewing the artwork?
No. At the moment, it's not possible for you (or Printify Support) to cancel an order pending approval. You can wait 7 days, then the design will be automatically rejected, and you'll be able to cancel the order.
Am I charged for design adjustments?
Our digitization remains free of cost for merchants for now. There is no additional cost incurred for receiving or accepting a design adjustment.
Does approving affect other orders using the same design?
Yes — but only if they use the exact same digitization. If the design is applied to products with different materials, placements, or artwork sizes, a new digitization may be created, and those orders won’t be affected.
