Why does my DTG garment have a smell?

If your DTG (direct-to-garment) garment has a slight odor when you first receive it, there’s no need to worry. This is a normal part of the DTG printing process and will go away after washing.

The scent comes from a fixation agent (also called a pre-treatment solution) that’s applied before printing. This solution helps the ink properly bond with the fabric. Without it, the print wouldn’t last as long and could start flaking over time.

Rest assured, this is completely normal in the DTG printing industry, and the smell will disappear after one wash.
