What is Order Routing, and how does it work?
Our automatic Order Routing saves time and prevents lost sales by rerouting the order or part of it to the best alternative Print Provider. It also reduces production and shipping costs by consolidating orders with a single provider when possible.
Why choose Order Routing?
- Fully automated: No manual effort needed—the most suitable alternative product or Print Provider is selected automatically based on your routing settings, ensuring timely fulfillment.
- Control your settings: Set a maximum additional cost per item and choose whether to allow routing for exact or similar product matches.
- Optimized fulfillment: Single-line item international orders are rerouted to a closer Print Provider whenever possible to reduce shipping costs and delivery times.
In which cases will orders be rerouted?
- The ordered product or one of the products within the order is out of stock.
- The ordered product has been discontinued by the chosen Print Provider.
- The chosen Print Provider has been temporarily closed.
- The chosen Print Provider is located in a different geographic region than your customer (single-line item orders only).
- The chosen Print Provider’s production time is estimated to be significantly longer than with Order Routing.
Whenever possible, orders with multiple products will be routed to a single Print Provider to help save on shipping costs. This will occur in the following cases:
- If an order could be fulfilled by a single Print Provider instead of multiple.
- If an item is out of stock or the chosen Print Provider’s daily capacity is reached, the order will not be split but will be routed to one Print Provider when possible.
The process is automatic once you’ve enabled the feature in your settings and will align with your previously selected order approval settings.
Is design scaling taken into account when an order is routed?
Yes, the maximum possible design scaling difference is set at 7%. This means that if the design were to be scaled down by more than 7%, the order wouldn’t be routed to another Print Provider.
