What are the most common Shopify integration errors and how do I fix them?
You can use Shopify’s own website builder to create a store, or integrate Printify with an existing site. If your store isn’t connecting properly or products aren’t syncing between Printify and Shopify, this article walks through the most common causes and how to resolve them.
For general guidance on selling with Shopify integration, see What should I keep in mind when selling on Shopify?
Connection issues
If you’re unable to connect your Shopify store to Printify, or the connection keeps failing, work through these steps:
- Confirm your Shopify store is live and published. A store that’s still in draft mode, password-protected, or otherwise unpublished can’t be accessed by Printify.
- Check your store in an Incognito or private browsing window. If you can’t access it there either, your store isn’t fully live yet, publish it first, then try connecting again.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, or try connecting from a different browser or an incognito window.
- Follow the connection steps in How can I connect my Shopify store?
Product sync issues
If you’re unable to publish a product in the first place, rather than a sync issue with a product that's already published, see Why can’t I publish my products to Shopify?
If a product that’s already published to Shopify stops syncing correctly, whether that’s mismatched variants, missing images, or incorrect stock status, check the following:
- Confirm your Shopify store is live and accessible, using the same check described above.
- Compare the variant count on the product in Printify against the same product in Shopify. A mismatch here is one of the most common causes of sync errors.
- If you’ve recently used a bulk editing tool or app in Shopify, that may be the cause. See What should I keep in mind when selling on Shopify? for how these tools can break Printify’s product recognition, and how to avoid it going forward.
Sold-out products
If all variants of a product show as Sold out, this is almost always a shipping rate issue, not a stock issue. Check which shipping profile is assigned to the product: if it’s using a General shipping profile without rates set up for the zones you sell to, Shopify will show it as sold out because it has nowhere to ship from.
For steps to fix this by republishing with the correct shipping profile, see How can I publish the Printify shipping rates to Shopify?
If none of the steps in this article resolve your issue, contact our Support Team rather than deleting the affected product. Deleting it can make the issue harder to investigate and resolve.
