How does the upgrade to Printify Choice work?
With the upgrade to Printify Choice, you can access all the benefits of Printify Choice for your existing orders automatically, with no additional action required on your part. If both time and money can be saved on an eligible order, we’ll automatically route the order to be fulfilled through the Printify Choice network—while passing the savings directly to you.
Why choose the upgrade to Printify Choice?
In addition to the main advantages of Printify Choice—best price, quality, and speed—here’s why you should opt for the upgrade to Printify Choice:
- Maximize profits: Save up to 10% on every order.
- Minimize out-of-stock issues: With automatic rerouting, your orders get delivered on time, whatever the weather.
- Exact match priority: We’ll upgrade your order if an identical product and print area are available within the Printify Choice network. In rare cases, your design may be resized (up to 7%) to prevent stock issues and ensure timely delivery.
- Reduce your risk: Printify Choice customers are half as likely to experience issues compared to non-Choice.
- Fulfill closer to your customer: Orders are fulfilled locally whenever possible, reducing shipping costs and ensuring faster delivery.
Which orders are eligible for the Printify Choice Upgrade?
If you have the Printify Choice Upgrade setting enabled, orders will be routed based on the following conditions:
- Cost savings: The order will be routed only if Printify Choice saves you money.
- Product match: Only orders with exact product matches will be routed.
- Print area match: Upgrades apply only if the new product has the same print areas as the original. In rare cases, the design may be resized (up to 7%) to prevent stock issues and ensure timely delivery.
- Packaging inserts: The order will be routed only if your selected options for packaging inserts and/or gift messages can be supported.
- International routing: Orders can now be routed internationally if Printify Choice can fulfill them in a location closer to your customer.
How does Printify Choice Upgrade work for local vs. international orders?
Through the upgrade, Printify Choice prioritizes fulfilling orders locally whenever possible.
Local orders:
- If an order is being shipped within the same country as the originally selected supplier, we will route it to a Printify Choice supplier in that same country.
- We can now route local orders outside of the US as well. Previously, local routing was only available within the US.
International orders:
- For international orders, we will first attempt to fulfill them locally by routing to a Printify Choice supplier located closer to the customer. If local fulfillment is not available, the order may still be routed to a supplier within the Printify Choice network and delivered internationally.
- We can now route any international orders. Previously, international routing required the order to be from or to the US.
Enabling the upgrade to Printify Choice
Since the order will only be routed if it saves you money, offers the best quality and speed while maintaining the original product, this feature is enabled by default in your store settings—no action is required on your part. It’s a win/win for you and your customer!
However, if you prefer, you can opt out of the upgrade by simply unchecking the Activate my upgrade to Printify Choice box in Order settings:

How does the upgrade to Printify Choice differ from Order Routing?
Upgrade to Printify Choice is a part of our Order Routing feature. However, you can enable or disable both options separately. Here’s how they differ:
Upgrade to Printify Choice
The Printify Choice upgrade automatically routes your order through the Printify Choice network if an identical product and print area are available and it results in savings for you. In rare cases, your design may be resized (up to 7%) to prevent stock issues and ensure timely delivery.
- Our system will also try to find a replacement for an out of stock product, but only if the replacement is priced the same or less than the original.
- There’s no downside for you or your customers. You save money while your customers receive high-quality products faster, leading to increased customer satisfaction.
Order Routing
- In contrast, Order Routing helps you save time and avoid lost sales due to stock shortages. If the original Print Provider is unable to fulfill an order or part of it, the order will be automatically redirected to a suitable alternative.
- We’ll also ensure that, when available, the order is routed to a Print Provider in the same country or region as your customer, which can help reduce shipping costs, customs duties, and delivery times.
- Although Order Routing offers convenience and efficiency, the alternative Print Provider may sometimes be more expensive than the original, but will still stay within your specified cost increase limits.
