How can I set up a personalizable listing with Etsy?
Setting up a personalizable listing on Etsy allows your customers to request custom details for their orders, like names, dates, or personalized messages. You can manage these requests directly in your Printify dashboard, making it easy to review and approve custom orders.
Step 1: Choose and set up your product
Select a product from the Printify Catalog that you want to offer as personalizable. Next, add a placeholder design to indicate the customizable area, like “Your Text Here” or “Add Custom Message.”
Alternatively, you can display a pre-personalized product with text or a design, as shown in the example below, and specify in the product title and description which parts are customizable.
Click Save product to go to the next step.
Step 2: Enable personalization in Printify
Next, adjust the other product details and toggle the personalization option on for your product. You’ll see default personalization instructions for buyers, which you can customize as needed. Then publish the product.
Step 3: Review and manage orders in Printify
When a customer places an order in Etsy, their personalization request will appear on the order page in Printify.
You’ll see any notes, text, or links from the customer that are relevant to their customization request. Review the customer’s details and adjust the placeholder text or image. Once ready, approve the personalization and send the order to production.
Personalization may still be manual for now, but we’re actively working on updates that will seamlessly populate customer text into a fully customizable design layer—no more manual effort required. Stay tuned!
