Which taxes apply when using Printify?
There are several taxes that potentially apply when using Printify. You may encounter the following taxes depending on which Print Providers you choose to use and the location of your business and your customers:
- Sales tax
- Value-Added Tax (VAT)
- Taxes in Canada
- Taxes in Australia/New Zealand
Sales tax
Sales tax is only applicable to orders that are fulfilled and shipped within the US.
This may also apply to you if you’re an international seller using print on demand for your business. We have prepared a comprehensive sales tax guide to help you learn more about your potential tax obligations.
Sales tax will not be charged if a valid resale certificate has been submitted to Printify.

Value-Added Tax (VAT)
VAT is a consumption tax that is applied to orders sold locally or shipped across the borders of the European Union's 27* member countries, the UK, and Norway, as well as to orders imported to these countries from other non-EU countries, such as the US.
In contrast to the US sales tax system, VAT is applicable at each stage of an order’s production.
The applicable VAT rate can vary and ranges between 0% to 27%.
*(Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden)
Taxes in Canada
All items printed and shipped within Canadian borders are subject to local taxes. The applicable tax rate depends on the order’s “ship to” address in Canada. Click here to learn more about taxes on sales in Canada.
If you’re a registered taxpayer in British Columbia, Manitoba, and/or Saskatchewan, you can receive an exemption by providing your tax details to Printify. If you’re a registered taxpayer in other provinces, you will be able to reclaim these taxes via your tax returns.
Taxes in Australia/New Zealand
Starting October 2022, Printify is introducing tax charges on sales in Australia and New Zealand. All items printed and shipped within Australian and New Zealand borders will be subject to local taxes.

Taxes in other countries
Printify won’t charge taxes on orders being shipped to other countries that are not mentioned here. However, orders may be subject to customs fees applied to imported shipments, based on each country’s import regulations.
