What should I do if a product is discontinued?
Whenever a product or a product variant is discontinued, we will notify you by email as soon as the information becomes available to us.
If some product variants are discontinued
Remove the affected variants by republishing the product
You can continue selling the product, but you’ll need to remove the variants that are discontinued. This can be done by simply republishing the product from the Printify side.
Permanently switch the product to an alternative Print Provider or product
If the same product is offered by several Print Providers, you can easily switch the entire product to another Print Provider that offers more size/color variants. Alternatively, switch to another product that is similar and has more variants.
Enable Order Routing for your store
If you’ve enabled Order Routing and your customer orders one of the discontinued variants, then the order will be automatically routed to an alternative Print Provider for fulfillment (or a similar alternative product model will be used, depending on your routing settings).
If the entire product is discontinued
Permanently switch the product to an alternative Print Provider or product
If the same product is offered by several Print Providers, you can easily switch the product to another Print Provider. Alternatively, switch to another similar product.
Remove the product from your store
If the product is unique and won't be available anymore, you’ll need to remove it from your store by hiding it or deleting it.
What if I have an “On hold” order that contains a discontinued product?
If the ordered product has been discontinued, it won’t be possible to submit the order to production using the original Print Provider. Please visit this article to see how to proceed with your order.
